The production of the Souverän sleeve is subject to an elaborate process. The classic striped material is made out of cotton based on a formula developed specifically for Pelikan. It takes months until the block providing the stripes is finished, whereupon the tailor-made plating is curved and cut into a contour using a natural diamond. The characteristic double rings are then integrated into the cap and barrel with the utmost precision. The writing instrument is then polished until it reaches a brilliant luster.
The Pelikan Souverän M1000 is Pelikan's flagship fountain pen. The elaborately striped green body is made of celluloid acetate, with a black cap and 24k gold plated accents. The large nib is made of 18k gold, refined with a rhodium decor, and writing quality tested by hand.
The fountain pen is equipped with a differential piston-filling mechanism with high-value brass components. The smooth operating piston mechanism allows you to fill this pen with bottled ink, and an ink window allows you to see your ink level.
